All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Bridgwater
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Bridgwater, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the chosen category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, telephone, or directly at our Bridgwater office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon picking up the vehicle. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. Payments can be made using major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damages without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, allowing only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified upon return will be assessed and charged accordingly. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the tank is not full. Late returns may incur additional charges, so contact us promptly if a delay is anticipated. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may explore additional insurance options to minimize your financial liability. It's important to review these options thoroughly. You will be accountable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when covered by extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Use:
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited, as is sub-letting to unauthorized individuals or allowing unapproved drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Adhere to designated passenger and weight limits, and do not drive beyond the agreed geographical areas without proper consent.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bridgwater will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental fees paid in the past 12 months. This exclusion does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent actions.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
